The 2 Halo collars cost a total of $1350, and because I bought 2 of them I received a $100 discount. We had priced an Invisible Fence…to enclose 1 acre was going to cost $4000, and it obviously would have been limited to our specific home base. The feedback tools (both for prevention and encouragement) are spot on and the adjustability has helped me tailor each collar to each dog’s needs and response level. The training program was terrific…the dogs and I both learned the capabilities of the system and how to use it to great effect. The lab learned the fence boundaries VERY quickly-1 1/2 days! The min schnauzer took just 2 days. We have been using the Halo collars and app for 2 months with our 7 month old lab and our 6 year old min Schnauzer mix. I am amazed at how effective and versatile these are! I really can't say enough about the collar and the people who support it. I had a problem with the collar, and Halo warranted it. Giving him the freedom to run, play, chase the ball - its made him calmer and brought us closer together. And what's great, is that he does that every time - even when we go somewhere new and set up a fence in a place he's not familiar with. My dog now generally responds to the first warning (just a beep) and stops and turns right around. Over the course of the next few weeks, that trended down, and then became quite minimal. Once we moved outside, we had a couple of rough patches where he was getting shocked all the time, but the Halo app has reports that shows you how often it's happening. By training the dog in the house first, you can be confident the dog's not going to take off, free you to concentrate on the training, learn right along with your pup-pup, and gain confidence in the tool (and yourself). I wish I had understood the importance of the training approach that Halo advocates. I tried a couple of collars with terrible results (he bolted down the street a couple times) before I got the Halo Collar. I didn't want to put an electric fence in, especially when I was seeing options online that offered more flexibility. I did a ton of research about training dogs (thank you Monks of New Skete!). Covid offered that opportunity and the family took it. I am a first time dog owner who has wanted a dog for a long long time.
